Strengthening Switzerland’s energy infrastructure with Brunstock BESS technology
Switzerland is investing heavily in resilient, flexible energy systems, and large‑scale storage is becoming a central part of that transition. One of Brunstock’s Swiss representatives, NRG Solutions AG, is now preparing an integrated project that brings together energy storage, system services and renewable generation on a single optimised site.
The project is being developed on behalf of a public authority that wants to future‑proof its energy infrastructure and reduce long‑term operating costs. With a Brunstock BESS at the core, the site will support advanced grid services and create a foundation for later expansion.
A site designed for long‑term optimisation
The authority’s goal is to implement a full site optimisation strategy. The Brunstock BESS will support several key functions from day one:
- SDL marketing: Enabling the operator to participate in regulated load‑management schemes and generate additional value
- Self‑consumption optimisation: Maximising the use of locally generated renewable energy and reducing grid imports
- Peak shaving: Lowering demand peaks to stabilise the site’s grid profile and reduce energy costs
- Arbitrage: Charging when prices are low and discharging when prices rise, creating a more predictable cost structure
By combining these functions, the Brunstock 5 MWh system delivers both operational efficiency and long‑term economic resilience.
An integrated approach to energy storage and renewables
This upcoming Swiss installation brings together energy storage, system services and renewable energy in a single integrated solution. This approach gives the operator flexibility to adapt to changing market conditions, regulatory frameworks and future energy needs.
At a later stage, the site is expected to expand with additional renewable generation and the installation of charging stations, creating a multi‑purpose energy hub that supports both mobility and local energy production.

A scalable model for public‑sector energy resilience
This project demonstrates how public authorities can use energy storage to stabilise costs, strengthen local infrastructure and prepare for future electrification demands. With NRG Solutions AG leading the local delivery and Brunstock providing the underlying technology, the project sets a strong precedent for municipalities and regional authorities across Europe.
Brunstock continues to support partners with modular, utility‑grade storage solutions designed for real‑world performance. As energy systems become more dynamic, integrated BESS solutions will play a central role in building resilient, future‑ready infrastructure.
