Brunstock recently exhibited at All Energy Australia, where visitors were able to inspect the company’s latest SF₆-free medium-voltage switchgear and battery energy storage system (BESS) technology.
The display included the BGP-40.5, a primary medium-voltage switchgear platform rated up to 40.5 kV. Designed for utility, renewable energy and industrial applications, the BGP-40.5 provides an alternative to traditional gas-insulated switchgear technologies that rely on sulphur hexafluoride (SF₆).

Also on display was the new BGS-12, an SF₆-free secondary medium-voltage switchgear platform rated up to 12 kV. The BGS-12 is intended for distribution networks, renewable energy projects and industrial power systems where compact equipment footprint and environmental considerations are factors in equipment selection.

Battery energy storage systems for renewable energy projects
Brunstock also demonstrated its 5 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) configuration. The system is suited to a range of applications, including:
- Small-scale solar farms
- Commercial and industrial energy users
- Peak demand management
- Microgrid applications
- Renewable energy projects in the 5 MW to 15 MW range
The 5 MWh configuration is based on Brunstock’s modular battery energy storage platform, allowing the capacity of the system to be increased for larger projects as required.

On the Colterlec stand at the show was a full-scale demo of our new Symm 261 C&I BESS.
